Ode to Adulthood
Posted On 04/12/2008 14:01:43

ADULT

A  Assuredness: Adults are confident in their abilities. Adults educate themselves to rise to the occasion and lend themselves as mentors and teachers to those that wish to learn. Adults also know when others do not wish to take advantage of opportunities presented to them and do not waste their time or talent.

D  Determination: Adults don’t quit because life gets hard. Adults know there is a way, even if the best ideas are not their own. Adults are not threatened by asking for help to get something done.

U  Understanding: Adults understand that everything is not about them, that a greater good is in the best interest of all people. Adults are aware that others may accomplish things in ways foreign to them, and appreciate the differences.

L  Love: Adults know that love is a gift between people. Love is not to be ignored or taken advantage of. Adults have the realization that those who give love are those that receive love. Through experience, adults know that not all people are capable of giving or receiving love.

T  Trustworthy: Adults do what they say they are going to do, when they are going to do it. Adults do not have to be reminded they made a promise because adults care enough to know others count on them.

President's Trophy and Anderson Cup are almost a lock
Posted On 03/30/2008 15:33:06

Good day!

Well, my teams are about to win the regular season trophies for the most games won! The Omaha Lancers have sewn up the Anderson Cup and my Motor City Wings are very close to the President's Cup once again. I hope it is not the kiss of death for the big cup!

I wish my teams the best of luck in the play-offs and remember boys play well and DON'T MAKE ME COME DOWN THERE!!!

Nebraska finally gets a clue
Posted On 02/28/2008 14:18:51

Thank you Nebraska for finally putting your foot down on indoor smoking!  I love live music and the bar scene, but could not participate because of my allergy triggered asthma. I will spend my money, so no worries bar and restaurant owners. And all of my non-smoking friends will be with me!! If you smoke, you can join your friends outdoors or just cross the river to Council Bluffs and hang with some  ancient, toothless, casino hags!

Happy Christmas, etc.

Hope your days have been filled with good food, better friends, and tolerable family LOL!

Thinking of my Husker friends and those that wish they were today and throughout a great new 2008!

Feeling Lucky...

Even though the Huskers did not put their best foot forward last night it was great to get together with friends to enjoy an evening! It was fun to blend old friends and new ones!

Some of my Tech high alums stopped in for pizza, salad and hamburger cheese dip (a football staple)! Couples friends came over too, what a great night to laugh, catch up and play cards. My host son also stopped by and even my Mom played hearts with us until almost 2 a.m. BTW she won the game!

Let's try to have as good a Sunday as we Nebraskans can after a Husker loss .

What if?
Posted On 08/19/2007 16:44:15

Well, it is a mystery to me why some folks are just easier to talk to than others. It seems the people closest to me have the most trouble communicating. No matter what I say or kind gesture I make it is seems to be misunderstood... no wonder I don't like to be at home !!

On the flip side, there are people in my life that tell me too much... I want to care, but there is a point at which sensory overload occurs and I feel like running away.

An aquaintance mentioned something very wise not long ago... he states he 'settled' for his current situation in life, and that is exactly how I feel most of the time .

I have so many dreams and aspirations that are simply not shared with most folks around me. Maybe it is finally time to stop settling and start living !

Any advice?
