Nebraska 20 Wake Forest 17
So I can't say it wasn't the ideal game. It wasn't a total catastrophe. Even though the running game was shut down (compared to the Nevada game) I think the West Coast offense showed it's diversity. I think NU of 5 years ago would have been doomed going up against this Wake Forest (Defending ACC Champs) defense because NU relied so much on the running game. Any style of passing offense would have kept NU in the game as it did yesterday. Not sure what happened to the offensive line but it was obvious that Sam Keller was under a lot more pressure. Maybe that is a hats off to the Wake DBs for taking away Sam's options for the pass. Then again it has been over a year since Sam's has seen regular action on the gridiron.
Overall I give the game a "B" and a win is a win. It wasn't pretty but they got the job done. If that game was at NU the grade would have been lowered to a C+.
I was very impressed with Wake's Kenneth Moore and Kevin Marion. Those kids has some shakes and moves with great speed. Take away Moore's preformance and NU's defense would have had a great day. Moore and Marion are definetly playmakers. Defensive players of the game are Ndamukong Suh and Zack Bowman.
Top stats - Keller 24/41 258 passing yards. Zack Bowman 1 INT
